After months of speculation and rumors, Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have officially unveiled the pricing for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. The Standard Edition will launch at $79.99, while the premium Ultimate Edition will retail for $99.99, making GTA 6 one of the most expensive mainstream video game releases to date.
The announcement confirms what many industry analysts had predicted: GTA 6 is helping push the gaming industry beyond the long-standing $69.99 AAA pricing standard. Rockstar's Ultimate Edition includes exclusive in-game content such as unique vehicles, weapons, outfits, and additional character-themed items centered around protagonists Jason and Lucia.
Players who pre-order either edition before launch will receive the "Vintage Vice City Pack," a collection of retro-themed vehicles, cosmetics, and other bonus content. Digital purchasers will also receive a complimentary month of GTA+ membership.
Another surprise announcement is that physical retail copies will not contain a game disc. Instead, boxed versions will include a digital download code, a move Rockstar says aligns with modern distribution trends and the massive file size of the game.
Despite some criticism over the higher price point, industry analysts expect demand to remain extraordinarily strong. With GTA 6 scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, many believe the game could shatter sales records and set a new benchmark for premium video game pricing moving forward.
