Dott Aims to Reduce Blind Pedestrian Risk With Scooter Sounds Across Europe

In an attempt to combat complaints of pedestrians regarding electric scooters, Dott, along with 2 other European e-scooter manufacturers joined forces with The University College of London (UCL) to begin sound testings earlier in February of this year.

Now, 3 potential sounds have been developed by the collaborative efforts of The University of Salford & The Royal National Institute For Blind People (RNIB) to raise e-scooter awareness among visually impaired pedestrians.

A range of blind/partially sighted people will be testing the new technology inside a VR headset in London followed by Italy, Sweden, & Spain in collaboration with blind associations in Europe. Participants will be asked to respond when they first become aware of the electric scooter and to select their sound of preference among the 3.
