Instagram is rolling out a new feature that gives users more control over how tagged photos appear on their profiles. For years, tagged photos lived in a separate tab, often overlooked and rarely curated. Now, Instagram is letting you pull those tagged images directly into your main grid, treating them like any other post you choose to showcase.

This update reflects Instagram’s broader shift toward profile customization. As creators and everyday users rely more on their grids as personal portfolios, Instagram is giving them tools to shape how they’re represented — not just by what they post, but by what others tag them in. The change also helps brands and collaborators highlight joint content more prominently, making tagged posts feel less secondary and more integrated into the platform’s visual identity.
Adding a tagged photo to your grid is simple. When someone tags you in a post, you’ll see a new option that lets you approve the tag and place the photo directly onto your grid. You can reposition it, hide it later, or remove it entirely without affecting the original post. Instagram treats it like a spotlight feature: you’re choosing which tagged moments deserve a place in your curated layout.
This feature also gives users more control over their digital identity. Instead of tagged photos being buried in a separate tab, you can now elevate meaningful moments — collaborations, events, portraits, or memories — to the front of your profile. It’s a subtle but powerful shift toward letting users define how they appear across the platform, even in content they didn’t create themselves.
Instagram says the update is part of a larger effort to make profiles more expressive and customizable. With grid pinning, Notes, and expanded bio features already in place, the ability to add tagged photos to your grid fits neatly into Instagram’s push to make profiles feel more personal and dynamic.
