Grand Theft Auto VI fans have finally gotten a look at the massive collector’s box that leaked earlier today, and it turns out Rockstar Games really is preparing a premium Vice City-themed collection for the launch of its highly anticipated open-world game. There is, however, one major detail that makes the $399.99 package quite different from what many fans initially expected: despite being marketed as a Grand Theft Auto VI collectible set, it does not actually include Grand Theft Auto VI.

Rockstar has officially announced the Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, a limited-edition Collector’s Box inspired heavily by the fictional state of Leonida and the in-game television show Macca the Gator. The collection is now available for preorder through the Rockstar Games Store for $399.99 in the United States and £349.99 in the United Kingdom, with the box scheduled to arrive on November 19, the same day Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch. Rockstar says the collection will be available while supplies last.
The collection contains 11 pieces of merchandise, turning what initially looked like a traditional GTA 6 Collector’s Edition into something closer to an extremely elaborate merchandise package for dedicated fans. The centerpiece is a six-inch Macca the Gator figure featuring a stash compartment, accompanied by a pair of matte-black GTAVI Oakley Frogskins sunglasses with Prizm Sapphire lenses. There is also a New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback featuring Vice City and Leonida embellishments, giving the collection a combination of in-game memorabilia and recognizable real-world brands.
The rest of the box leans heavily into the fictional world Rockstar has created for GTA 6. Buyers get a Macca the Gator magnetic mirror, a Vice City collectible swizzle spoon, a razor-blade-style keychain, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag and a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass. The package also includes a Leonida Keys enamel pin set inside a custom metal tin, premium stickers packaged in a stash bag and a double-sided souvenir poster showcasing the landscape of Leonida.
For fans who spotted the collection during the leak earlier in the day, the official announcement confirms much of what had been circulating online. Before Rockstar formally revealed the product, listings and product information discovered by members of the Grand Theft Auto community had fueled speculation that the Vice City Collection might be a traditional Collector’s Edition containing the game itself. Reports of the listing appeared alongside a much larger collection of GTA 6 merchandise, including clothing, accessories and other themed products.
The biggest surprise is therefore what isn't inside the box. Rockstar explicitly states that Grand Theft Auto VI is sold separately. The Vice City Collection is a merchandise product rather than a game bundle, meaning someone who wants to purchase the box and actually play GTA 6 will have to buy the game independently. That distinction is particularly important because the nearly $400 price tag could easily lead shoppers to assume that a product carrying the Grand Theft Auto VI name and arriving on launch day would include the game.
The timing makes the collection particularly interesting. November 19 is currently positioned as a major launch date for Rockstar, with GTA 6 arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Vice City Collection will begin shipping that same day, effectively putting an enormous piece of GTA merchandise in the hands of collectors at the exact moment players finally get access to the new game.
The product also illustrates how extensive Rockstar's merchandise strategy surrounding GTA 6 is becoming. The company has already revealed additional products connected to the game, and Rockstar says fans should look out for more apparel and collectibles coming to the Rockstar Store. The earlier leak suggested that the company was preparing a much broader merchandise lineup, with items ranging from hats and shirts to bags, stickers and other accessories.
The Macca the Gator theme is particularly fitting for the collection because Rockstar is using fictional entertainment within GTA 6 to expand the world beyond the traditional characters and locations players encounter. The Vice City Collection takes that fictional television property and turns it into real-world merchandise, allowing fans to essentially bring a piece of Leonida's fictional pop culture into the real world.
That approach also explains why the package contains such an unusual mixture of products. Instead of simply providing a statue, steelbook case and traditional gaming collectibles, Rockstar has assembled something that resembles a lifestyle merchandise bundle. The sunglasses, crossbody bag, hat, mirror and drinking accessories make the collection feel like an assortment of objects that could have come directly from the world of Vice City and Leonida.
The price, however, puts the collection firmly into premium collector territory. At $399.99 before applicable taxes and any additional costs, the Vice City Collection costs substantially more than a typical video game release, and the separate purchase of GTA 6 means customers interested in both the game and the merchandise will have to spend even more. The package is therefore clearly being positioned toward collectors and hardcore fans rather than people simply looking for a copy of the game with a few bonus items.
Rockstar is also emphasizing limited availability. The company says the Collector's Box is available for preorder while supplies last, which means the initial production run is not being presented as an indefinitely available piece of merchandise. Rockstar has also indicated that additional regional preorder information for Asia, Latin America and Australia will be provided later.
For everyone else, the collection adds another layer to the enormous buildup surrounding GTA 6. Rockstar has spent years keeping details about the game tightly controlled, while leaks and official announcements have repeatedly generated enormous attention from the gaming community. Now, even the merchandise surrounding the game is becoming newsworthy enough to leak ahead of an official announcement.
The Vice City Collection ultimately isn't the GTA 6 Collector's Edition that some fans may have imagined when the leaked listing first appeared. Instead, it is a $399.99 premium merchandise box containing 11 pieces of Vice City and Leonida-inspired memorabilia, with the actual game conspicuously absent. Rockstar is making that distinction clear, and anyone ordering the collection will need to purchase Grand Theft Auto VI separately.
For GTA fans who have been waiting years to return to Vice City, though, the box represents another opportunity to own something tied directly to the game's fictional world before launch day arrives. And with Rockstar promising even more GTA 6 apparel and collectibles, the $400 Macca the Gator box may only be the beginning of the merchandise wave accompanying one of the biggest game launches in years.
